Can I Go, Too

A little girl came to see her daddy
She came from a place so far away
And her daddy was laying on his deathbed
And the little girl didn't know quite what to say
So she just held him
Because she loved him
And I listened to the words she had to say

Can I go to where you're going?
I just wanna be with you
Can I go to where you're going?
Daddy, I just wanna be with you

It seemed like a million years had passed
Since the little girl had said her last goodbye
When mommy took the little girl from daddy
You could see the hurt in the little girl's green eyes
And her tears fell
Because she hurt like hell
But the little girl never left her daddy's side

She lightly brushed a lock from daddy's forehead
Then she gently kissed her daddy on the brow
Reality no stranger to the little girl
She knew this was daddy's final hour
And how she'd miss him
And as she kissed him
Through trembling lips I heard her say again

Can I go to where you're going?
I just wanna be with you
Can I go to where you're going?
Daddy, I just wanna be with you

Well, can I go to where you're going?
Daddy, I just want to be with you...

Who wrote this? Also cannot find, "the thought of losing you" on Internet anywhere. Just curious.
