Completely Unfolded

If you loved me, I wish you’d have told me
If you didn’t, then lie to my face
I used to love truth, but a lie would sound sweeter
And wouldn’t be so hard to taste

I know how a love can unfold me
And I know how a love is defaced
But all I wanted was someone to have and to hold me
And to take me away from this place

But you’re right, I suppose, in your own little way
When you don’t touch the thorn for the scratch
Saying, “Falling’s a sin of stupidity
If there’s no one there willing to catch.”

But how dreadful a life, oh how sad one would be
If they never knew love is “to fall and be free!”
